At EMEEN, we often speak about entrepreneurship as more than business creation it is the translation of lived experience, values, and knowledge into something that serves society. Vidhya’s journey with Balvedhaa is a powerful example of this kind of purpose-led entrepreneurship.
A biochemistry student with a deep interest in science, wellness, and ethics, Vidhya represents a new generation of founders who are both technically rigorous and values-driven. Her academic training has shaped a disciplined, evidence-based approach to health and innovation, while her lived experiences particularly the influence of her grandmothers have grounded her work in care, balance, and responsibility.
Growing up around traditional wellness practices, Vidhya learned early that health and beauty are holistic concepts, not cosmetic ones. This understanding was further shaped by witnessing her

grandmother’s battle with cancer an experience that heightened her awareness of the body’s vulnerability and the importance of what we consume and apply to our skin. These experiences did not lead to fear-driven entrepreneurship, but to thoughtful, preventative, and ethical innovation.
Balvedhaa was born at the intersection of ancestral knowledge and modern science. It seeks to bridge a clear gap in the beauty and wellness industry where ancient systems such as Ayurveda are often commodified, while modern skincare prioritises speed and trends over inclusivity and long-term health. Vidhya’s work challenges this by applying scientific scrutiny, regulatory awareness, and ethical standards to traditional principles.
Vidhya says “I want to rewrite the concept of beauty by returning to its roots where care, balance, and tradition were central, not optional. For me, authenticity means respecting ancestral knowledge while holding it to modern scientific and ethical standards. Beauty should never be about quick fixes or trends; it should support wellbeing, honour the body, and be honest about what we put on our skin.”
Currently in its research and development phase, Balvedhaa’s first product a science-led, Ayurvedic-inspired serum for fungal acne addresses a condition that is frequently misunderstood and poorly served, particularly for diverse and melanin-rich skin types. The emphasis is not on fast market entry, but on safety, credibility, and trust.

Vidhya’s journey reflects the kind of entrepreneurship EMEEN exists to support: intentional, inclusive, research-led, and deeply human. It is a reminder that some of the most meaningful innovations are rooted not just in opportunity, but in care.
